Dog dies in Greece house fire, man escapes from window

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A dog died in a house fire on Berkshire Drive in Greece and the homeowner escaped from a second-floor window onto the porch roof of the home, according to firefighters on the scene.

A News 8 crew is at the scene of the fire and saw multiple firefighters at the scene of the fire. Major damage can be seen at the front of the home as smoke can be faintly seen coming from the home.

News 8 was told the homeowner was unable to get out of the house due to the flames on the first floor. He had to escape onto the porch roof in order to escape. He was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation and is in stable condition. His dog passed away.

The Ridge Road Fire Department said the fire is currently under investigation.
