The Grand Rapids Area Male Chorus annual concert

The Grand Rapids Area Male Chorus will present their annual Spring Home Concert on Sunday, May 5 in the Wilcox Theater at the Reif Performing Arts Center. The Thunderhawk Singers, Grand Rapids High School Tenor/Bass choir, under the direction of Adam Giebner, will sing several selections at the concert and combine with the GRAMC for the closing number .The concert begins at 2:30 p.m. The GRAMC is directed by Linda Benge and accompanied by Bonnie Kangas. The choir will also be accompanied by violinist Mary LaPlant and percussionist Mike Miller.

The concert, titled “Living Life to the Fullest” features a wide variety of music, including show tunes, jazz, spirituals and gospel. Director Linda Benge is completing her first year as the director of this group, and chose the concert title based on her impression of the men in the choir. “All choirs create experiences that make our lives richer. Human beings are designed to include music in their lives. This group really goes one step beyond that, in the friendship and support they offer each other.” The choir has been part of the community since 1956 and includes men of all ages.

The GRAMC traveled to St. John’s University the weekend of April 26 and 27 to participate in The Big Sing 2024. Two days of singing with 7 other male choirs from the Upper Midwest District of the Associated Male Choruses of America culminated in a concert in the St. John’s University Abbey Church on Saturday evening. Approximately 150 singers filled the beautiful space with sound that created life time memories.
