Two left dead by crash on U.S. 35 in La Porte
LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- A crash occurred on U.S. 35 in La Porte that has left the two occupants of a motorcycle dead. Deputies responded to the scene at 1:10 p.m. A green 2012 Can-Am Spyder was traveling northwest on U.S. 35 when it left the east side of the road on the 3500 block. The motorcycle traveled across a lawn before colliding with a tree and landscaping. It also hit some boulders before stopping in a garden.

Surging into the 80s with abundant sunshine this weekend
Break out the sunglasses and sunblock, we're looking forward to a sunny and warm weekend ahead. Our area is waking up to limited visibility with fog early, but rising temperatures will cause fog to mix out later this morning. Highs climb to the low 80s with mostly sunny conditions, but a stray shower is possible in far eastern Michiana this afternoon. After lows fall into the low 60s tonight, we'll rinse and repeat with highs into the mid 80s on Sunday. Both clouds and temperatures increase heading into the work week with low pressure developing in the west. Rain chances jump up Monday evening into the overnight hours with showers expected going into Tuesday. We are still watching for a potential severe thunderstorm threat Tuesday overnight into early Wednesday morning, but at this point the potential impacts are still being determined.
