It is part of a $300 million expansion project and was designed to accommodate Amtrak’s new Airo trains, which debuted last month.

Seattle cracks down on RV parking with new two-hour limit
Seattle City Council on Tuesday approved new restrictions on RV parking. Why it matters: The suite of legislation passed by the City Council seeks to address longstanding complaints about RV encampments, but critics warn they could leave some of Seattle's most vulnerable residents without shelter . Driving the news: The City Council voted 6-3 to approve the core parking restrictions within a broader six-bill legislative package, sponsored by Councilmember Dan Strauss, that ultimately passed 8-1. The package sharply limits how long unpermitted RVs can park on city streets while establishing a permit system for vehicle residents. What's inside: People living in RVs could qualify for free permits allowing longer parking in designated industrial areas, but they must own their vehicles and be included in a one-time city count of RV residents that has yet to take place. RVs and other oversize vehicles without permits generally could park on city streets for no more than two hours, with overnight parking prohibited. Vehicles violating the restrictions could be towed without the advance notice currently required. What they're saying: "We had a question before us today: whether to continue with the status quo — which we know isn't working — or to try

Route 545 doesn’t save as much time as you think
Much like route 550 was to Bellevue, route 545 has been Redmond’s workhorse route. Redmond has a diverse set of transit options fanning out in every direction, even before it had the distinction of being a Link terminus. But the main regional service has always been route 545, which connects downtown Redmond to downtown Seattle. However, as with many ST express corridors, route 545 was intended to be an interim service until rail reaches Redmond. Route 545 was always planned on being discontinued with the start of East Link service to Seattle, with the 2 Line taking over the entirety of both routes 545 and 550. The original plan (developed as part of the first iteration of King County Metro’s East Link Connections plan) deleted the 545 and 550, with some of the freed up service hours being used to make the 542 frequent and replace 545 service to Bear Creek P&R. Route 554 (later renumbered 556) was also planned to be moved to Bellevue to fill a gap in service on Bellevue Way left by the removal of route 550. Former riders of these routes either take a more frequent bus to connect the 2 Line, or can just take the 2 Line on its own.
