ELYRIA, Ohio — Two people were arrested, while drugs, cash, and a gun were seized by Elyria police after a search warrant was executed at a home on Friday. According to a release from Elyria Police Lt. Bill Lantz, the warrant was executed at a home in the 200 block of Louisiana Avenue following neighborhood complaints.

On April 24 an officer noticed car debris in the roadway near Cahoon Road. After looking at the debris and checking the area, it was discovered someone drove over the median/crosswalk at the intersection. Officers soon found the suspected car parked on Bryson Lane near the volleyball courts (car had three flat tires). They spoke with the driver who was seated in the driver’s seat. After speaking with the man, officers suspected the driver had been drinking. Field sobriety tests were administered, and the 52-year-old Canton resident was arrested.

WESTLAKE, Ohio – Fraud. A resident came to the Westlake Police Department at 10:30 a.m. on April 19 to report falling victim to a telephone fraud. The man received a phone call from a man claiming to represent the Federal Trade Commission. The fraudster said he was investigating improper withdrawals from the victim’s bank accounts. The fraudster claimed that to help with the investigation, the FTC wanted the victim to wire thousands of dollars to a bank in New York. The scammer promised that all the funds would be returned once the investigation concluded.
Resident reports theft of 3 iPhones from porch: Lakewood Police Blotter
LAKEWOOD, Ohio – Theft: Lakeland Avenue. A male resident reported that three iPhones were delivered on the afternoon of April 24. Approximately 10 minutes after they were delivered, a Ring camera showed someone come onto the porch and take them, according to a police event report. Fraud: Beach Avenue.
