Women Only Mutiny Mermaid Mixer Planned for Cane Bay Beach on May 19
The Mutiny Mermaid Mixer will make a splash at 8 a.m., Sunday, May 19, at Cane Bay Beach. This women-only relay event will feature a 400-meter swim and a 2-mile run. The fun part about the event is that each woman will register to complete the swim or the run, and the Mermaid Mixer Committee will randomly select each participant’s teammate just prior to the start of the event. The event focuses more on camaraderie and fellowship and less on competition.

Forfeit upheld, pending appeal
The S.C.H.S.L. has upheld the Summerville forfeit from last night’s baseball playoff game against Ashley Ridge. Summerville has filed an appeal, which will likely be heard by the League’s Executive Council on Monday. If the appeal is denied, Summerville can appeal to the League’s appellate panel. BHS Busy on Day 1 of State Track and Field Meet
More than 30 Bridgeport High School track and field athletes will be in Charleston the next days competing in the annual state meet at Laidley Field. Day 1 of the two-day event will feature finals in two relay events and the open 3,200-meter run, a handful of field events and preliminaries for the 100, 200 and 100/110 hurdles.
Bishop England boys basketball coach Bryan Grevey retires
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Bryan Grevey, who spent 14 seasons as the head boys basketball coach at Bishop England, is retiring the school announced on Friday. Grevey helped lead the Bishops to 4 region championships in his time at the school and was named the Region coach of the year four times as well. He led the school to a 91-52 record according to a statement from the school and led the team to the postseason 12 times.
