As the storms were moving through the area this week, I was thinking about my Grandma Lien. Grandma passed away a few years ago, but I know she would’ve been absolutely terrified of the idea of me moving to Kansas because of the threat of severe weather. I moved to Hiawatha from Fargo, ND a little over nine months ago. When I was here for my interview last May, I saw my first tornado as I dined with people from the church.
Water slides coming to pool
It’s been a long-time goal of Holton Parks and Recreation Director Mike Reichle to get a slide or two installed at Holton’s municipal swimming pool, and this summer, Reichle’s hoping to have at least one slide installed before the pool opens for the season on Memorial Day weekend.
Hiawatha runners cap regular season at Sabetha
