NEW PHILADELPHIA – Students from Indian Valley High School in Gnadenhutten trickled into the parking lot at the Kent State University Tuscarawas Performing Art Center a few at a time and milled about in typical high schooler fashion, socializing, and making last-minute adjustments to attire.

Conditions were pleasant for Saturday night's prom at 60 degrees, with occasional wind gusts turning a bit chilly towards the evening for those dressed in formal attire.

Meanwhile, family and supporters lined a walkway leading from the parking lot down to a side entrance at the PAC. At a glance, one would have thought people were tailgating before a football game. Then at 7 p.m. sharp, attendees were announced and proceeded in – two by two, and in some cases one at a time.

They were greeted at the door by familiar faces from the school for check-in: Kristin Pittis and Meghan Foster, the prom co-advisers, as well as staff and faculty from the high school. With the theme of the night being Midnight Masquerade Ball, attendees could don Victorian-era style paper masks, complimenting the silver and teal color scheme seen throughout the venue.

According to Kristin Pittis, 110 couples tickets were sold with around 240 people expected to attend.
