Dogs Deliver on Opening Day w/ 6-2 Win Over S. Aiken
Freshman Brady Furniss led the Dogs to victory on opening day of the 2024 season at White Knoll High School in the Red Bank Invitational Tournament on Saturday. Furniss collected his first high school hit in the 5-run bottom of the fifth inning for the Bulldogs and drove in 2 huge insurance runs in the process. Furniss made his first career start at 2nd base a memorable one as he also made two diving plays on defense. Senior Byer Ware earned the victory on the mound with 5 innings of work. He allowed just one hit, had 5 strikeouts, 3 walks, 1 hit batter and 2 earned runs. Senior Aidan Heriot closed out the game with 2 scoreless innings of work. He had 4 strikeouts and 1 walk. The Dogs only mustered one hit on the evening; however, patience at the plate allowed for 9 walks and 2 hit batters. With so many men on base, the Dogs were able to swipe 6 bases in the game. Junior Chris Evan and Senior Shiver Huggins had 2 stolen bases each as Seniors Kade Bell and Heriot each had 1. The Dogs are now 1-0 in pool play for the RBI Tournament. Their next game is Monday night at 8:00 at White Knoll H.S. vs. Dreher. Senior Campbell Denton is the expected starter.

LEXINGTON, S.C. — Lexington Police are advising caution while driving downtown. The 900 block of West Main Street at Topslider Court is the scene of a three-car accident. Authorities haven't said whether there were any injuries in the crash. Police are diverting one outbound lane to the median to allow for traffic to keep moving.

The Gators defeated Chapin 2-1 Sunday at Gray Collegiate Academy to claim the Gold Division of the 4-day tournament. It was the third title won at the event by River Bluff, which went 5-0 with victories over Andrew Jackson (5-1), Carolina Forest (3-0), Wando (1-0) and Blythewood (7-1).
Man arrested after firing gun inside Lexington County bar
LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - A man was arrested Wednesday after deputies with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department (LCSD) said he shot a gun inside a local bar. Deputies said Darrell Newsome Jr., 49, fired several shots inside The Burnt Barrel bar on Old Barnwell Road. They were alerted to the situation when a witness who was in imminent danger contacted the Lexington County Communication Center.
