When President Donald Trump traveled to Myrtle Beach in August to stump for Sen. Darline Graham, he told supporters he would return for a golf trip if the Republican senator won her election. If the president returns to the Grand Strand, it won’t be to make good on that promise. Despite support from Trump and other notable conservative politicians in and out of South Carolina, Graham failed to sway South Carolina voters at the ballot box. Horry County's top prosecutor, probate judge to keep jobs after 2026 elections

Horry and Georgetown counties won’t see a change in the court system’s top prosecutor after Tuesday’s elections. Jimmy Richardson won another term as solicitor for the 15th Circuit after running unopposed. In Horry County, the Republican incumbent candidate garnered 101,261 votes with 71% precincts reporting. Richardson was appointed as solicitor for Horry and Georgetown counties by then Gov. Nikki Haley in 2012. Republican Allen Beverly also won another term as probate judge. He, too, was unopposed, securing 100,465 votes out of 71% precincts reporting. He was first elected to the office in 2022.

Republican U.S. Rep. Russell Fry will continue representing South Carolina’s 7th congressional district after voters reelected him for a third term. With all counties reporting, the incumbent congressman garnered roughly 56.71% of the votes with 172,308 ballots, based on preliminary results. “America’s future belongs to the people who show up with ideas,” Fry said in a statement. “The Democrat party has spent a lot of time telling America what’s wrong with it. They embraced socialism with open arms, an idea that has failed everywhere it’s been tried. It’s trash day in your neighborhood, and you have your can sitting along the curb waiting for pickup. Then along comes a neighbor walking their dog and throws their pet’s bag of feces into your trash can. Putting aside the fact that the act is not very neighborly, is it against the law? South Carolina law says that a person cannot “dump, throw, drop, deposit, discard, or otherwise dispose of litter or other solid waste upon ... private property in the State for which he is not the legal owner or a person otherwise granted permission by the legal owner.” Horry County has separate solid-waste rules , and using someone else’s bin without permission could still prompt a complaint. The law also states that “garbage” that is placed in trash cans for pickup “shall not include human or animal feces.” There are other city ordinances with rules about picking up and disposing of your pet’s waste.
