On Oct. 26th, The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) Board of Commissioners unanimously authorized the next phase of plans for a new passenger terminal at Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN). Beckett's comments came after airport commissioners selected a development team to lead a proposed overhaul of Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport. The preliminary plan includes a new departure concourse, a single security checkpoint and demolition of the west concourse. The project is moving into design and negotiations. A total construction price and a final financing plan have not been established. Asked whether the takeover case could disrupt those plans, Beckett said the airport already continues operating under its existing governance while the lawsuit is active. “So we continue to have to operate the airport and provide services to the community,” Beckett said. “And so we have that autonomy to do that, and we've been doing that for the past 10 years.” Understanding Jackson's
