Traffic stop leads to numerous charges for Lincoln man
LINCOLN, Del. – A Lincoln man is behind bars on charges stemming from a traffic stop Sunday morning. Just after 11 a.m., troopers stopped a vehicle on Coastal Highway near Eagles Nest Road for speeding. While walking up to the vehicle, the trooper reportedly smelled marijuana coming from the car. The trooper made contact with the driver, 33-year-old Joshua Witty, observing smoke coming from the center armrest and traces of marijuana on Witty’s clothing. Witty complied with the trooper’s request to get out of the car, however, he reportedly tried to evade arrest by fleeing back to his vehicle. He was successfully taken into custody.
UPDATE: Laurel Superintendent Charged with DUI
LAUREL, DE - The Laurel Police Department has confirmed to WBOC the arrest of Laurel School District Superintendent Shawn Larrimore on DUI charges over the weekend. Laurel Police tell WBOC the incident occurred on Saturday, May 11th just before 11:30 p.m. near Sussex Highway and Camp Road. According to authorities, a police cruiser was stopped in the shoulder when a Ford truck passed without changing lanes or slowing down for the stopped emergency vehicle. A second officer then followed the truck and saw the vehicle conduct several lane violations and nearly collide with another vehicle, according to Laurel police.
Police ID 54-Year-Old Shot During Altercation
The Dover Police Department has arrested a 17-year-old male, of Dover, on murder charges, following a shooting that occurred Wednesday morning. Officials said the investigation began at 10:26 a.m., when the Dover Police Department was called for shots fired from within a residence located in the 400 block of River Road. Officers responded and located the victim, a 54-year-old Seaford man, inside of the residence. The man had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper body as a result of the shooting police said.
Laurel PD looking for one more suspect following high speed chase
LAUREL, Del. – Laurel Police Department is looking for one more suspect following a high-speed chase Saturday. It happened May 11, 2024, just after 2:30 P.M. An officer was traveling northbound on Sussex Highway in the area of Sycamore Road. The officer observed a gold Toyota 4-Runner driving erratically. While approaching the intersection of Sycamore Road, the 4-Runner nearly struck the vehicle in front of it and swerved into the right shoulder to pass other stopped traffic. While making the unsafe passing move, the 4-Runner struck a vehicle turning out of a driveway, causing significant damage to both vehicles. The driver of the second vehicle would later be found to have suffered a minor head injury as a result of the collision.
Serious Crash Closes Road In Lewes Tuesday
On Tuesday morning, at approximately 8:06, a traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Beaver Dam Road and Dairy Farm Road in Lewes. Upon receiving the report of the accident, emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene. Initial information indicated the possible involvement of four patients, one of whom was reported to be unconscious.
