GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - The rain and mountain snow have moved on, now we’re setting up for a beautiful weekend. Weather Alert: Freeze Warning for Northwest Colorado. A Freeze Warning is in effect from midnight tonight until 10 AM Friday and from midnight Friday night until 10 AM Saturday for Moffat and Rio Blanco counties in Northwest Colorado. A damaging freeze is likely with temperatures chilling to low-to-mid 20s around Meeker, Rangely, Craig, and Dinosaur. Take steps to protect exposed pipes and any outdoor crops and vegetation from damage.

Rain and mountain snow end, now we’re turning colder

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The last of the rain and mountain snow will end tonight and Thursday morning, then we’ll turn noticeably colder. On-and-off rain in the valleys on the Western Slope will linger through much of the night, then fade to an end between about 1 AM and 4 AM Thursday. Snow on the mountains may linger longer. It will fade between 9 AM and noon, and a few flurries are still possible along the Continental Divide through mid-afternoon. That snow in the mountains may slow your travel on I-70 over Vail Pass and at the Continental Divide through the Eisenhower-Johnson Tunnels, so plan for extra drive time to make your appointments if you’re heading over to Denver on Thursday morning.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - More rain will fall through Tuesday and Wednesday before drying begins on Thursday. Tuesday will be cloudy with periods of rain likely. We’ll warm from upper 40s and lower 50s at 7 AM and to low-to-mid 50s throughout much of the afternoon. High temperatures in the afternoon will be up to 62 degrees around Grand Junction, 61 degrees around Montrose, 63 degrees around Delta, 59 degrees around Cortez, and 57 degrees around Moab. These highs will happen during breaks from the rain, and it’s possible that we don’t quite reach these highs.
