HS Softball: Wood-Ridge Rips Garfield, 13-2

GARFIELD, NJ – Brielle Rivera had three hits and four runs batted as Wood-Ridge defeated Garfield, 13-2, in a NJIC Meadowlands softball game on Tuesday afternoon in Garfield. Wood-Ridge improved to 7-11 with the win, while Garfield falls to 2-11 with the loss.

After a scoreless first inning, Wood-Ridge scored four runs in the second and five runs in the third inning to take a 9-0 lead. After Garfield scored a run in the bottom of the inning, Wood-Ridge scored four more runs in the fourth inning to take a 13-1 lead.

Garfield scored one in the bottom of the fourth, but both teams were held scoreless in the fifth, triggering the 10-run mercy rule.

Isabella Capuano had three hits and three runs batted in, while Alexa Celentano had three hits for the Blue Devils, who pounded out 15 hits on the day.

Isaballa Capuano allowed two runs on five hits and two walks in picking up the win for Wood-Ridge.  She struck out four.
