Gardendale man killed by debris while driving on I-65

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A man from Gardendale died after being struck by debris while driving Monday morning, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports.

Jason H. Fields, 51, was pronounced dead at the scene when a piece of debris struck the 2021 Ford Bronco he was driving on Interstate 65. ALEA did not describe the debris in their news release of the incident.

The collision happened around 10:50 a.m. near the 281-mile marker, roughly a mile south of Warrior. No additional information is available as ALEA continues to investigate.
