Iowa police detective warns public about scams targeting elderly people
CLIVE, Iowa — Elderly people across the country are increasingly falling victim to scams, according to the FBI's 2023 Elder Fraud Report. In fact, the FBI estimates elderly people lost more than $3 billion in 2023 alone. Still, even that number doesn’t capture the full picture, since about half of the complaints filed don’t include the victim’s age.
This Juneteenth comes at a critical moment for freedom, truth and civil rights protections in Iowa

Iowa man dies after hitting a tree in single-vehicle crash
RINGGOLD COUNTY, Iowa — An Iowa man died Wednesday morning after the vehicle he was driving left the roadway and slammed into a tree. James Cody Sage, 34, of Lucas, was driving a Chevrolet Express 3500 eastbound on Highway 2 near Kellerton in Ringgold County at around 4 a.m. Wednesday, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report. The vehicle left the roadway and entered the south ditch, striking a tree.
