The Ganado Maidens are seemingly headed into a tie for second place in district with Weimar. Both teams finish the season on Thursday against teams they should have no problem defeating. If the tie does happen, it has been decided district seeding will be determined by a coin flip.

The Maidens have had a great season and were very close to defeating Weimar and Shiner the last time they faced off. Against both teams Ganado held a lead going into the final innings, but didn’t close the game out.

It bodes well as Ganado will most likely not run into defending state champ Weimar again until the Regional playoff round, and the winner of that game will likely face Shiner.

Shiner has jumped to No. 1 in the Texas High School Girls Coaches Association polls, with Ganado dropping to 22 in the combined 1A and 2A polls.

Weimar has fallen out of the top 25 poll.

Three Rivers sits at No. 8 in the polls, and is a likely second-round opponent for one of the three teams. If history is any indication, last season they were ranked ahead of Ganado going into their Area playoff match-up and the Maidens had no problem winning the game.

Ganado will finish the regular season against Bloomington and then will play a playoff warm-up game against Hallettsville.

Edna and Industrial have both had tough years with Edna sitting at 4-9 and the Cobras at 3-10.

Edna will finish their season at Palacios and Industrial will finish their season against Hallettsville.
