With only four teams competing in the Alabama high school tennis state championships, there was a mixed bag of results for teams in the Gadsden area.

The state meet started Monday and ran through Friday in Mobile.

The best team performance belonged to the Boaz boys, who finished sixth in Class 4A-5A competition with 25 points. They were led by the performance of Anderson Lambert, who fell in the third round in the No. 1 single bracket and advanced alongside Isaac Butler to the finals of the No. 1 doubles bracket. Butler went to the semifinal round of the No. 3 singles while Eli Golson made it to the semifinals in No. 4 singles.

Southside placed 11th in Class 4A-5A with Brock Adams falling in the second round of the No. 1 singles bracket, but Brody Burnett and Reid Robinson made it to the semifinals of the no. 3 doubles bracket.

Fort Payne sent both its boys and girls teams. The girls finished 12th with nine points while the boys won one match and finished in a tie for 14th with just the two points. The girls had no one make it out of the second round.
