FULTON, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Just before 7 p.m. on May 7, the Fulton Police Department tried to stop a gray Chrysler 200, within the area of River Glen Dr., and State Route 481, in the City of Fulton.

Police identified the driver of the Chrysler as 31-year-old Timothy Benway. He was wanted by police on a felony arrest warrant for grand larceny, a misdemeanor arrest warrant for aggravated unlicensed operator in the third degree, and two additional misdemeanor bench warrants.

While Fulton Police pursued a traffic stop for Benway with emergency lights and sirens, he took off and headed southbound on State Route 481.

Police say this was an attempt to elude them. Benway was driving as fast as 125mph.

“During the course of the pursuit, Benway was passing motorists on the right while crossing over the white fog line while continuing to attempt to get away from pursuing police,” said Fulton PD.

He eventually got off and drove into the Village of Phoenix where police ended the pursuit.

Police say the Chrysler was eventually recovered on Barnes Street, in the Village of Phoenix, but without Benway.

They later learned that he was at a home in the Town of Schroeppel, on Oswego River Road.

The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, an Investigator from the Oswego County District Attorney’s Office, New York State Police and the Village of Phoenix Department obtained a search warrant that they used to look through a home.

    • Aggravated Unlicensed Operator Third Degree all traffic misdemeanors

    • Unlicensed operator
