Larry Dee Crocker, an 80-year-old veteran, died on December 31, 2023, at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in DeRidder, LA. He was born on October 10, 1943, and graduated from Hardin High School in Texas. He furthered his education at Texas A&M University, earning a Bachelor's degree in Wildlife Management. He served in the United States Army for twenty-five years, retiring as a LTC. His service included a stint in Vietnam, earning him several medals, including The Bronze Star and The Purple Heart.

The Cunningham Family, previous owners of Champion’s Jewelry, have donated antique display cases to the Beauregard Museum. These cases are from their original store, which closed in 2023 after operating for 103 years in DeRidder. The store was founded in 1920 by John Franklin Champion and Mary Ellen Snell, the grandparents of the current owners, John and Karen Cunningham.
