Cobb commissioners to consider 60-home subdivision in southwest Cobb
County commissioners will consider approving a proposed 60-home subdivision in southwest Cobb Tuesday during its regular zoning hearing. Connor Thorpe, the project’s developer, is proposing the county rezone two parcels on either side of Brown Road to develop a 60-home, single-family subdivision just south of Hiram Lithia Springs Road. Proposed homes on the lot will range from 1,450 to 3,005 square feet, and be constructed with either craftsman or traditional styles. Each house will also feature cement siding with either brick or stone accents, according to county documents. The Brown’s Crossing subdivision, as well as the back of the Martin’s Farm subdivision, are located near both parcels and would be neighboring any new homes constructed on the lots. The development has brought up concerns from nearby residents over stormwater drainage, an issue that has remained prevalent throughout the area. “We have a water problem and this water problem is well-documented,” Clithon Rice, president of the Brown’s Crossing Homeowners Association, told the Planning Commission Oct. 6. “The more buildings we have … that water has to go somewhere.” The proposed development originally began
