Jacksonville State’s 2024 football season opener has been moved up two days to Thursday, Aug. 29, at the request of Conference USA, the school announced. April 29, 1949, in The Star: The new International House at Jacksonville State Teachers College, made possible by the citizens of Anniston, Jacksonville, Gadsden and other Alabama cities, was formally dedicated this afternoon. The ceremony, held in the college gymnasium because of inclement weather, was opened by the JSTC band. The idea for the International House was conceived by Dr. T. H. Jones, head of the foreign language department of JSTC. It is used as a place for American and foreign students to eat, work and play together, and thereby promote international understanding.
