BISMARCK, ND ( KXNET ) — North Dakota country music duo Tigirlily Gold has won the Academy of Country Music New Duo or Group of the Year award.

The announcement came Tuesday in a kickoff festival ahead of the 59th ACM Awards set for Thursday, May 16 in Texas.

“We just won our first ACM AWARD!!!” the sisters posted on their Tigirlily Facebook account . “This is 11 years of long days, short nights, ups and downs, and never giving up. Thank you to the @acmawards for this incredible honor. We are absolutely beside ourselves. More to come later…”

Tigirlily Gold joined country artists Megan Moroney and Nate Smith as the part of the overall New Artists of the Year for this year’s awards event. Moroney earned the ACM New Female Artist of the Year and Smith won the ACM New Male Artist of the Year.

In addition to the award, Tigirlily Gold will also perform live during the ACM Awards broadcast Thursday.

Tigirlily Gold is made up of sisters Kendra and Krista Slaubaugh, who are natives of Hazen. They have been singing all their lives and, in 2013, decided to pursue a music career full-time as Tigirlily Gold.

The ACM Awards will be free to stream live on Prime Video from Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas on Thursday, May 16 at 7:00 p.m. CDT. A Prime membership will not be required to watch live. Fans can also watch the show on the Amazon Music channel on Twitch.
