Marysville Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Being Struck by Semi on I-5 in Mountlake Terrace
A young man's stroll onto a freeway ended in a violent encounter with a moving semi-truck this morning on Interstate 5 in Mountlake Terrace. KOMO News reports that the incident took place near 220th Street SW, when the 22-year-old from Marysville was struck by the truck while allegedly under the influence.
On the scene of the Pioneer wildfire
Edmonds resident and My Edmonds News contributor Kevin O’Keeffe shared these photos of the Pioneer wildfire, which has been burning since June near Lake Chelan. “One could wander around Stehekin oblivious of its existence but when you returned to the excursion boat dock, there it was looming nearby,” he said. “The down lake boat paused by the fire so we were able to see the towering smoke plume and the latest area of devastation. We could also see the attempt at control by two planes scooping water from the lake and a helicopter dipping a bucket.” The Lady of the Lake boats were not operating Thursday, “possibly remaining available for evacuation purposes,” he said. Swim Across America beach sale and auction August 4, 2024
A team of swimmers, including at least one from Shoreline, will be participating in an annual event for Swim Across America to raise money for cancer research. Each raises funds for their own swim, but they are also hosting a beach sale and silent auction at Brackett's Landing in Edmonds.

Next up in the free City of Edmonds Summer Concerts in the Park series is Seattle Kokon Taiko from 3-4 p.m. Sunday, July 28 at Edmonds City Park, 600 3rd Ave. S. Taiko is an ancient, dynamic synthesis of rhythm, movement and the spirit of Japan. Seattle Kokon Taiko roots are from an offshoot of the Seattle Taiko Group, which formed in April 1980. In 1992, the two groups merged to form Seattle Kokon Taiko. The ensemble combines traditional Taiko with the modern in a repertoire that is a mix of traditional pieces and contemporary compositions.
