Strike halts work at over a dozen southeast Wisconsin construction sites
Hundreds of crane and heavy machine operators are on strike in southeast Wisconsin, halting work at more than a dozen construction sites in the region. Roughly 800 members of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 139 went on strike last Saturday for better pay. That’s caused work stoppages at construction sites in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, Kenosha, Washington and Ozaukee counties.

Greater Milwaukee Foundation: Offers up to $1 million in new, accessible business loans
Milwaukee, Wis., June 12, 2024 – Small businesses play an essential role in a region’s economic vitality, but risings costs and limited access to capital can make them hard to sustain. This year, the Greater Milwaukee Foundation aims to deploy $1 million in low-interest loans to support small businesses based in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington and Ozaukee counties. The success of the ThriveOn Small Business Loans program in previous years allowed for its expansion into all four counties.
Kewaskum Police Officer Recognized
Public safety responded to a serious injury accident in May, at the intersection of County Highway H and US 45 in the Town of Kewaskum. Due to the proximity of the Kewaskum village borders, the sheriff’s office requested mutual assistance from the police department. Kewaskum Officer Kost immediately responded to the scene and began to coordinate a response and triage injuries.
New Lieutenant and New Officer
The Kewaskum Police Department held a ceremonial swearing-in at a monthly village board meeting for Lieutenant Bryan Frank and Officer Michael Wheeler. Lieutenant Frank has over 22 years of law enforcement experience, serving as a patrol officer, field training officer, front line supervisor, Sergeant, Lieutenant and for 3 ½ years as the Chief of Police for Lomira. Lieutenant Frank is from the Grand Chute Police Department, where he served as the night shift patrol Lieutenant.
