A husband-and-wife-founded bakery with two locations in Reno, Nevada, is making its way to Middle Tennessee. Perenn Bakery is opening its inaugural Tennessee location at 94 E. Main Street in Franklin.
What Now Nashville connected with owners Tyler and Aubrey O’Laskey over email to learn more about their plans with Perenn Bakery.
“At Perenn, we’re all about celebrating the beauty of handcrafted bread and pastries,” said the O’Laskeys in a joint statement. “We take immense pride in everything we bake, from our buttery, flaky croissants—known throughout the region—to our unique creations like the Vanilla Crème Brulee Kouign Amann. We want Perenn to be your warm, inviting escape. A place to slow down, savor the flavors, and connect with loved ones.”
The O’Laskeys met at the Culinary Institute of America in New York. Since that experience, Tyler and Aubrey’s professions have been in lockstep. They went on to work at Blue Hill at Stone Barns and The Girl and The Fig together before opening a catering business in Aubrey’s hometown near Lake Tahoe.
Word spread about the O’Laskeys’ culinary creations, and the duo were inspired to open a brick-and-mortar bakery. They launched the original Perenn Bakery in 2018 and opened a second location three years later. The O’Laskeys also own Claio , a rotisserie, cocktail, and wine restaurant in Reno.
Across their restaurants, the O’Laskeys use locally sourced ingredients and make efforts to minimize waste. Sustainability and community are two cornerstones of Perenn Bakery in particular. The O’Laskeys aim to create sensory experiences for guests, not just through food, but in the design of the spaces themselves.
Perenn Bakery in Franklin will be breathing new life into the historic Boat House building on Main Street.
On opening their latest bakery in the Boat House building, the O’Laskeys said, “It embodies the spirit of preserving tradition while embracing fresh ideas, which aligns perfectly with Perenn’s values. We know Franklin residents appreciate quality, authenticity, and thoughtful experiences, just like we do, and we can’t wait to be a part of that.”
Perenn Bakery is working with Studio Meadow to design the restaurant. The O’Laskeys plan to preserve the historical charm of the Boat House while refreshing the space with modern touches. Renovations to the space are set to begin shortly.
A representative for Perenn Bakery confirmed that the Franklin location will be the brand’s first Tennessee location. Perenn Bakery already has plans to open a location in Nashville in the future.

Perenn Bakery anticipates hosting a grand opening in Spring 2025. The bakery’s Instagram page will provide updates about the progress of the new location, and its Tennessee webpage will be refreshed with information about operational hours for the 94 E. Main Street location closer to the opening date.
