Romeoville Fire Department and Funny Car driver Chris King Host NHRA Firefighter Experience
For the second year in a row Funny Car driver and full-time Chicago firefighter Chris King introduced some of his NHRA competitors to the challenges and thrills of being a firefighter leading up to the Gerber Collision & Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals. In conjunction with the Romeoville Fire Department, Romeoville Fire Academy and the Joliet Fire Department NHRA Top Fuel racers Cody Krohn, Krista Baldwin and Travis Shumaker along with Funny Car driver Buddy Hull joined King in an afternoon of drills and activities highlighting just a few of the incredible activities firefighters experience on Thursday, May 16.

After a string of eight wins, River Forest's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost 14-1 to the Hammond Morton Governors. Weather photo exhibition to be deinstalled Thursday, May 30
LANSING, Ill. (May 18, 2024) – The 24 photographs that comprise the “Lansing Through the Seasons” photo exhibition will be deinstalled from the library’s gallery wall on Thursday, May 30. Library Outreach Coordinator Andrew Harootunian will assist members of the Journal team with unhooking the exhibits from the cable hanging system and packaging them in their original boxes for pick-up.

Oak Forest came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs) and they left with even more momentum. A Bolingbrook man arrested related to dozens of shots fired along Richards Street on April 18th. Joliet Police arrested 18-year-old Latrell Woodall of Bolingbrook was arrested, processed, and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Not Eligible to Obtain a FOID Card.
