We operate with a small municipal staff, rely extensively on competitive contracting and private-sector expertise, and carry no municipal debt. I’m proud of that record. I also recognize that maintaining it requires confronting financial challenges before they become crises. […]

From Southglenn Mall to The Streets at SouthGlenn: a Centennial, CO shopping center now facing apartment plans

When the rest of the mall came down in 2006, it kept selling at one end while Sears held the other, and crews crushed the old concrete between them.

Denver Public Schools’ enrollment fell by 1,780 students this fall, new data shows . The decline was steeper than district officials were expecting, and Superintendent Alex Marrero implied that more school closures could be coming soon. Marrero said at a school board meeting Thursday that he anticipates he’ll have to act on a clause in the board’s four-year moratorium on school closures that allows exceptions if there is a “substantial shift” in enrollment, funding, or another emergency. Smith STEAM Academy after fewer than 20 students enrolled in that grade, a district spokesperson said. The high

Building Affordable Housing isn’t Enough. We Have to Keep it Affordable.
Some of the most important affordable housing investments don’t involve laying a single new brick. They’re about making sure the homes we already have remain affordable. Archway Communities recognized that opportunity in early 2025 when it acquired Downing Square Apartments, a 50-unit affordable housing community for seniors and adults with disabilities in Denver’s Five Points neighborhood.
