Spray native Nate Clark heads to National College Finals Rodeo
SPRAY, OR \ CASPER, WY – A Spray, Oregon native will be competing in the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming next month. Nate Clark, who graduated from Spray High School and now is a freshman at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM, recently won the regional steer wrestling competition and will now move on to the National Finals.
Gomes makes College National Finals Rodeo
Cord Gomes, of Antelope, is headed to the College National Finals Rodeo this summer. Gomes finished third in the steer wrestling competition at the Northwest Intercollegiate Rodeo, held in Hermiston April 26-27. Gomes competes for Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton and helped them to a second-place finish in the region. The girls squad finished second as well. ...

At a local social gathering place in town, it was once remarked that the City of Condon was a lot easier to manage from the Texaco gas station than it was from City Hall. We are about to find out that Gilliam County is a lot more complicated to administer from the Courthouse in Condon than it is from the pizza parlor in Arlington.

Fossil artist Daniel Robinson to exhibit in Portland gallery
For the month of May, Russo Lee Gallery exhibits Some Kind of Lonesome by invited artist Daniel Robinson. This exhibition includes oil paintings permeated with light, shadow, and color. Robinson paints the rural, natural landscapes of Eastern Oregon. He states that, "Realist painters have always favored the mundane and ordinary and in Fossil where I live, we have it in spades". Recalling the social realist images of the 1930's and 40's, Robinson's body of work beautifully depicts the industrial and rural landscapes where he lives and works.
Fossil Library to host award winning Oregon author
FOSSIL, OR — The Fossil Public Library is pleased to announce that the Oregon Book Award Author Tour will bring Oregon Book Award winner Josephine Woolington to Fossil for a book reading and discussion on Wednesday, May 8, at 4:00 pm at the Jean E. Gilliam Co. 4-H Intl Club tours East Coast

CONDON, OR — The Condon Arts Council is proud to welcome the dynamic Mike Beck to Condon's Historic Liberty Theatre on Saturday, May 18. The show is free and for all ages. Mike Beck lives in Montana and performs extensively throughout the United States and Europe. He is known as an engaging acoustic solo artist who has played with some of the greatest cowboy country musicians of all time. Many consider him to be a protégé of his old friend Ian Tyson.
