FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Strong and severe storms moved across northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio from midday through mid-afternoon Wednesday.

Significant damage was reported from Pennville in Jay County. An older hog barn suffered extensive roof damage with the debris dropped just to the ENE of the location. Smaller debris was blown across SR 1 in the field. The damage appears to be related to straight line winds estimated at around 70 mph.
In Monroe (Adams County), one power pole came down, one power pole was damaged, and a couple large tree limbs came down.
In Bryan, OH, a tree came down halfway across CR 13 off of W. High Street. No information on tress size or the health of the tree was given in the report.
The largest hail reports came in from Hartford City where numerous hailstones, at least the size of quarters (1.00″ in diameter), were reported.
The day’s highest wind gust speeds were near 50 mph.
Total 24 hour rainfall amounts from 6:45 pm Tuesday through 6:45 pm Wednesday ranged as high as 0.95″ in Tucker’s Corner, west of Monroeville, in Allen County. Most locations, though, were well under that mark.
