Obituary: Kristy Grogan Brown
Kristy Grogan Brown, 49, of Bedford, passed away at 3:19 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2024, at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital, surrounded by her family. Born March 20, 1975, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Millard and Darlene (Wheeler) Grogan. She attended Shoals High School. She loved attending and participating in derby cars and animals and enjoyed doing puzzles. She especially loved spending time with friends and family.

Herbert Larry Roberts, 95, born February 9, 1929, passed away on May 22, 2024, from complications with his heart and lungs. Daddy passed away peacefully in his home. A home he shared with his beloved wife of 57 years, Teresa Roberts, his son-in-law, Brett Walters, and his daughter, Sabrina Walters. It was a home filled with love, laughter, and the warmth of his presence.
Man arrested after police find marijuana and pills in a lunchbox
BEDFORD – A Mitchell man was arrested on Thursday, May 16, on drug charges after a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputy stopped his vehicle for a traffic violation. Richard Simmerman, 52, Mitchell, was arrested on charges of possession of a legend drug, possession of marijuana, and operating a vehicle while never receiving a driver’s license.

BEDFORD – A Bedford man is facing fraud and theft charges after police say he stole from his ex-girlfriend. On Sunday, February 11, 2024, at 1:22 p.m. a woman came to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and spoke to Sgt. Robin Compton. She reported her ex-boyfriend Marvin York, 47, of Bedford, had obtained her Chase debit card without her permission and attempted to purchase a gift card in the sum of $727.85 on the vanillagift.com website on February 6, 2024.
