FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida man was arrested after staff at the Margaritaville Resort in Fort Myers Beach told deputies he was throwing beer bottles off a fourth-floor balcony over the weekend.

According to an arrest report from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, 23-year-old Connor Thurman, whose room was located just above the hotel’s valet parking area, threw a beer bottle from his balcony at around 1:30 a.m.

When officials tried to knock on Thurman’s hotel door, a security guard had to yell to him, who was sitting on his balcony, to answer the door.

When Thurman eventually answered, he yelled, “What?” and had a Corona beer bottle removed from his hand and placed on the ground by a deputy.

Thurman was then told to pack his things and leave the resort but refused, instead arguing with law enforcement and his significant other, the report said.

Officials said Thurman then grabbed an open bottle of beer and tried to chug the rest of the bottle.

A deputy again tried to remove the bottle from Thurman’s grip, but he resisted. Eventually, deputies said he let the bottle go and was detained.

Deputies found glass and broken beer bottles in the middle of the road consistent with the bottles in Thurman’s room.

Thurman was arrested on charges of trespassing in a structure conveyance and resisting an officer without violence. The report said he became “unruly” in the back of the patrol car and was taken to a nearby jail.
