Hopewell man killed on Edward Bland Court is the city's first homicide of the year
HOPEWELL – Two separate shootings Monday within seven hours claimed the life of one person and wounded another, police said. The first was reported shortly before 3 p.m. in the 1000 block of Edward Bland Court in east Hopewell, police Lt. Jacquita Allen said in an email. James Larrelle Thomas, 40, of Hopewell, was shot multiple times and died later at TriCities Hospital.
Hungary, Mill road closures planned several days this week
Several days of railroad repairs will cause the closure of Hungary and Mill roads at their respective railroad crossings most of this week, according to Henrico officials. The Hungary Road crossing is located between Hungary Spring and Woodman roads; a detour will be in place using Woodman, East Parham Road and Interstate 295.

The event, which has grown alongside undergraduate students’ interest in research, highlights students’ work and helps them polish their communication skills. Moon’s presentation was titled “Systematic Review: Impact of Psychological Pain Interventions on Depression in Older Adults” and was honored under the category of Health/ Human Performance/Nutrition.
