Grandview Saturday Double Then High Limit Thunder

Following yet another rain out this past Saturday night, the third time in the last four weeks, Grandview Speedway officials have prepared a big and exciting menu of racing action for the upcoming Memorial Day holiday weekend at the one-third-of-a-mile high banked speedway.
Oktaha Superintendent Jerry Needham retires
Oktaha Public Schools recognized the retirement of Superintendent Jerry Needham and his 40 years of service to Oktaha Public School. Since 1986, under the leadership of Mr. Needham, Oktaha School has passed approximately 10 bond issues, totaling $11,740,000 dollars, including the one that was just passed this year. With those funds and with his leadership, we were able to build a high school library, new classroom additions to the elementary as well as the high school, new elementary library, new preschool class rooms, new cafeteria, new science wing at the high school, new band room, new PE gym, new ag building and show barn, complete a renovation of the high school gym that greatly increased the seating capacity, and facilitate many other improvements to our campus, including ball fields and playgrounds.

TAHLEQUAH, Oklahoma ~ Sixteen members of the Council of the Cherokee Nation as well as Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin, Jr, are urging Cherokee voters to vote no at the June 15th special election on a possible constitutional convention. Chief Hoskin said he was following an “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it” philosophy in voting no on June 15th.

CHOUTEAU, Oklahoma ~ Let us introduce, Foxy Roxy! She is quite the catch. Roxy is approximately 2-3 years old, possible Shiba Inu/Shepherd mix. She has been housed in the Chouteau pound for months but has recently found her way into a foster home. Roxy is a quiet girl, a little lady, appropriate indoors, potty trained, great with all dogs big and small. She’s slowly coming out of her shell and adapting to her new environment. Cherokee Nation honors two veterans in May
TAHLEQUAH – The Cherokee Nation honored two veterans with the Medal of Patriotism during the May meeting of the Tribal Council. Frank Alexander Wright of Westville and Henry Carey Jr. of Tahlequah were recognized by Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr., Chief of Staff Dr. Corey Bunch and Secretary of Veterans Affairs S. Joe Crittenden, acknowledging their service and sacrifice to their country.
