‘We Go for That’: The Redwood Coast Music Festival (Oct. 2-5, 2025)

A Break in the Mist Brought Holiday Magic to the Salty Santa Parade on Humboldt Bay Yesterday

The main Eel remains open, but is getting low and clear
The main Eel remains open, but is getting low and clear. There are still a few kings around, along with quite a few coho. Winter steelhead should begin to show on the next rise. Over 1,200 Chinook have been counted as of Nov. 23 at the Van Arsdale fishery station, the most since 2012. Minimum Flow: 350 cubic feet per second at the gauging station near Scotia.

The river is in good shape from Lewiston down to Cedar Flat
The river is in good shape from Lewiston down to Cedar Flat. Most of the fish can be found above Douglas City, there should be bigger fish coming up into the Junction City area soon off of the last storm bump. Fishing remains superb on nymphs and this is a good time to swing as well. These are super grabby summer run fish, you can get them on Rubberlegs, Duracells, Olive Hotspots and Copper Johns. Look to put a few Golden Stone nymphs in your bag, Rolling Stones, Mercer's Poxyback Golden Stone, and the Solitude TB Golden Stone will fool these fish just fine. This fall is a banger year on the Trinity with as many fish we have in the system now. Give us a call if you would like to get on the books with your favorite guide!

The Time Between Rains is Making Steelhead Fishing Good
The timing between storms is just enough to make the rivers clear up and provide some good Steelhead fishing. Yesterday I drove up river to check out how the river was looking and was surprised at how many fishermen were out on the river fishing. The Trinity River looked really great for fishing and the number of guides riggs in the different parking lots was very pleasing to see. I was unable to talk to many guides as they were all out on the river fishing but the water was clear with about 6ft of visibility and looked good. I did talk to a couple of the fishermen and they said they were having some good hookups with a couple saying they had hooked into a couple of adults of two to three pounds. I checked out the new Junction City Campground launch site and parking. I must say the launch look very good. The parking area could use some more work and gravel though. The new restroom building looked great but was locked just when the facilities were looking good and being used, we are back to using the bushes again. Why would BLM add a much-needed facility and then lock it up right as Steelhead fish is picking up for the winter?
