At an unknown time, sometime between 1500 hours on11/27/23 and 0200 hours on 11/28/23, a red Honda Civic driven by Erica Gonzalez was traveling eastbound onSR-253 in the area of 9501 SR-253 at an unknown speed. As the Honda approached a slight left hand curve in the roadway, Gonzalez allowed the Honda to exit the roadway and travel off the roadway down a steep grass embankment approximately 400 feet. As the Civic traveled down the embankment, it collided with a tree and a dirt access road and continued in a southerly direction rolling several times. As a result, the2010 Honda sustained major roll over damage.

A boat has washed up near Fort Bragg’s Beachcomber Motel after capsizing. Reports from the scene indicate “one body washed up” associated with the boat and first responders at the scene are attempting CPR to revive the subject. Though details are vague, radio traffic indicates one subject is still in the water.

A truck towing a trailer with more than 300 pounds of marijuana was stopped recently on Highway 101 between Ukiah and Willits, the California Highway Patrol reported. According to the CHP, around 11:25 a.m. Nov. 9, an officer stopped “a silver Dodge Ram pulling an enclosed trailer” on Hwy. 101 south of the Ridgewood Scales because the driver had been speeding.

A hiker has gotten lost this evening near the Mendocino Coastal village of Anchor Bay prompting law enforcement and emergency personnel to begin a search and rescue operation. Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Captain Greg Van Patten confirmed a 73-year-old man went missing after hiking with his wife along a logging road off of Fish Rock Road “just east of the dump”.

Mendocino County authorities have announced the arrest of a wanted fugitive in connection with a homicide investigation in Mariposa County. In early November 2023, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office received a request for assistance from the California Department of Justice Fugitive Apprehension Team in locating a wanted individual, identified as 42-year-old Justin Bolton. Bolton was a fugitive wanted in connection with an active homicide investigation in Mariposa County.

A man wanted for murder from the Central Valley has been arrested in Mendocino County. Authorities reached out to the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office and said they thought that Justin Bolton of Mariposa County was in the area and requested help. Deputies spotted Bolton in Willits getting into a vehicle on Delta Avenue on Monday afternoon. SWAT intercepted the vehicle and stopped it. The driver got out of the car but Bolton stayed inside. They had to use a K-9 to remove him from the vehicle and take him into custody. Bolton is now awaiting extradition for the 2022 murder of Wendy Pullins of Madera County.

State Route 1, Mendocino Coast’s major north-south corridor, is closed this evening after a downed tree, power lines, and resulting traffic collision blocked the roadway. Scanner trafic and the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information page indicate the incident began around 5:17 p.m. just south of the Little River Inn after a “large pine tree” fell blocking approximately three-quarters of the roadway.
