Auburn's Weston receives posthumous commendation from Placer County
The Placer County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved a posthumous commendation for Jackie Weston for her service and leadership in the Auburn Community. Weston served as the CEO of the Auburn Chamber of Commerce and became known as a “loud voice for supporting small businesses” when she became the interim executive director of the chamber during the pandemic in 2020. Weston passed away June 2 after being hospitalized for pneumonia.

Man sentenced for deadly 2020 Nevada County stabbing
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A man was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for murder, the Nevada County District Attorney's Office announced. Officials said Michael Stine was convicted back on Oct. 5 for murder in the first degree. On June 10, he was sentenced to 25 years to life. It comes after a multi-week trial in the fall of 2023.
