A look at Wednesday’s headlines from our news partners at The Tribune-Democrat.

(WTAJ) — Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt said Tuesday’s Primary Election was “Relatively calm and successful” but election officials in several counties reported mail-in ballots that didn’t meet the dating requirement on return envelopes.

Schmidt explained the Department of State doesn’t know how broad the issue may have been just yet.

The department redesigned ballot materials ahead of the 2024 election cycle and pre-filled the first two digits of the current year. According to Spotlight PA and Votebeat media outlets, some voters didn’t fill in the empty spaces for the last two digits.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Tuesday at Forest Hills High School for their new student-built and run credit union branch.

This is thanks to a partnership between “The Challenge Program Incorporated” and “GAP Federal Credit Enion.” The branch gives students the chance to learn about financial literacy.

Jillian Tocco, communications manager with The Challenge Program Inc., said its mission is to partner in business education and help students be motivated for their future.
