Thursdays on Main kicks off on May 30th in Clear Lake
Clear Lake, IA (KIMT) -- Thursdays on Main begins at the end of May! The first Thursdays on Main will be held on May 30, 2024 from 6pm to 9pm in downtown Clear Lake. For those new to Thursdays on Main, you can expect to find plenty of food vendors, drinks, a classic car show, and plenty more! There will also be live music from 7-9 pm near Main Avenue and 4th Street.

Harvest, 1972 It was harvest time in 1972 at the Kennedy farm south of Clear Lake. Ed Lincicum drove the tractor pulling a carrot harvester while Kenny Johnson drove alongside in the truck catching the carrots.. Fidel Sanchez was on top of the truck watching the carrots pour in and Rolland Sharratt was behind the harvester. The 35-acre farm produced about 15 tons of the long type of carrots per acre, while the average for short carrots ran around 20-25 tons per acre.

Iowa farmer cautiously optimistic about grain prices
A north Iowa farmer is increasingly hopeful about a profitable year in 2024. Rusty Olson grows organic and conventional corn and soybeans near Garner. “I guess I’m optimistic with of course the weather, the markets are surprisingly starting to come back around in the conventional world and corn is seeing some really nice rallies lately.”
Bridge to be replaced in rural Freeborn County
EMMONS, Minn. – Replacement of a bridge on Freeborn County Road 60 is scheduled to begin on May 15. The bridge and a portion of the road roughly 3.3 miles west of Emmons will be closed until the project is completed. The Freeborn County Highway Department says that should be at the end of July.
