One dead after crash in southern Vigo Co.
VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– A woman is dead following a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Vigo County. According to a release from the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a crash at the intersection of State Road 63 and Lombardi Drive around 12:15 a.m. The driver was ejected from the vehicle, and life-saving measures taken on the scene were unsuccessful.

Woman Arrested For Purse Snatching
Terre Haute, In. – Back in January a woman entered a Terre Haute Kroger Store to shop. While momentarily distracted the woman’s, purse was stolen from her shopping cart. Within days of the theft nearly $6 thousand in charges were racked up on two debit cards at Terre Haute area businesses. Kroger surveillance video shows a woman snatch the purse out of the cart and then go through it in another part of the store, taking a wallet that contained the debit cards and leave the purse behind. The woman taking the purse has been identified as 22-year-old Georgia R. Jones of Terre Haute. Terre Haute police detectives have been able to track down Jones and she has been arrested and charged with Theft where value of property is between $750 & $50,000. Fraud with loss between $750 & $50,000, Possession of marijuana and Possession of paraphernalia. Jones is scheduled to appear in court on March 4th.

Details Announced For Downtown Terre Haute Eclipse Festival
Terre Haute, In. – On Monday April 8th Terre Haute will be in the path of a total eclipse of the sun. This is a once in lifetime event. To celebrate the eclipse a downtown festival is being planned and the public is invited. Beginning at 11am Wabash Avenue from 6th to 9th Street will be closed for the festival. There will be limited seating provided so bring a lawn chair. A partnership between West Central Indiana, the Terre Haute Children’s Museum and Downtown Terre Haute will provide plenty of fun activities and opportunities to learn about the eclipse. Other activities planned include live bands, a DJ, an eclipse countdown clock, a beer garden, craft vendors, food trucks and kids activities.
