Junior Parade was a cuteness overload
A short and cute parade up Oak Street May 18, led by fire engines carrying Rhododendron Days Princes and princesses, had folks along the parade route saying “awww” as it passed. The little parade was marked with flying bubbles, cartwheeling tumblers, a tiny Ford Mustang and even a dancing inflatable tube person.
Letter to the Editor
I was saddened to read about the city's decision to sell the property west of Greenwood St. for development. . This is a very unique property in that it contains trees over 100 years old and native Rhododendrons that are 20 feet tall or more. It is unique in that there are few places in the city of Florence, if any, with these characteristics. It seems to me that being as how the city of Florence calls itself the city of rhododendrons, it deserves to be retained in its current condition. I wish the city would have requested public input on this prior to making the sale. Florence citizens might like to take a look at it before it is forever gone.
