With the growing season underway and fire season just around the corner, the town of Florence is looking to underscore the importance of performing regular landscape maintenance to reduce the community’s fire risks.

Florence's property maintenance regulations are detailed in the "Land" section of the town’s code. These standards ensure the upkeep of properties, including maintaining grass and weeds under 6 inches and promptly removing litter, debris and overgrown vegetation, a press release from the town stated.

The code extends these requirements to areas adjacent to rights-of-way, emphasizing the importance of keeping these spaces free from blight and debris. There are similar standards for businesses to ensure parking lots and commercial properties are regularly maintained.

“Beyond compliance, the town’s codes and code enforcement efforts aim to create a safer, more inviting community for everyone. Regular mowing and trimming not only reduces fire risks but also contributes to the overall beauty and safety of our town,” the release stated.

For further information or assistance, contact Florence’s Community Development Department at 520-868-7575 or its Code Enforcement Officer Curtis Williams, at curtis.williams@florenceaz.gov .
