Man killed after pickup truck slams head-on into tree north of Flint

VIENNA TWP. (WWJ) — A man has died after his pickup truck crashed into a tree near Flint over the weekend.

Just after midnight Saturday Michigan State Police troopers with the Flint Post were called to the area of Saginaw Road and Dort Highway in Vienna Township after getting reports of a serious crash.

When troopers showed up they found a Chevy Silverado crashed into a tree on the west side of Saginaw Road.

Fire/rescue crews used the jaws of life to pull a 40-year-old man from the truck. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Authorities have not released the man’s name or hometown.

Officials say it appears the truck was headed north on Saginaw, just south of Dort, when he crossed the yellow center line and left the road, slamming into the tree head-on.

It was not clear what caused the driver to cross the center line. Authorities have not said whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, which remains under investigation.
