Poconos murder remains unsolved 16 years later
TUNKHANNOCK TOWNSHIP, MONROE CO. (WOLF) — 22-year-old Lee Vanluvender was killed while hunting 16 years ago, and his case is still unsolved. According to the Monroe County District Attorney's Office, on Dec. 4, 2007, Vanluvender was discovered shot to death in a parking area on Hipsy Gap Road in Tunkhannock Township.
Keystone Landfill responds to DEP suspension action
Last month the state Department of Environmental Protection suspended Keystone Sanitary Landfill's ability to use SAP or settlement accommodation plan operations on its site in Lackawanna County. The action came after numerous odor complaints from the public. Officials with the landfill say they have been working on the issue but also say they disagree with the findings. They believe odors being reported are coming from other sources. DEP continues to monitor the area.

Business to shut down after fatal weekend shooting
After a fatal shooting over the weekend, the owner of the business says it will shut its doors. The shooting happened at Club VIP in Old Forge. Once shut, the business will be gutted and repurposed. Tax relief program for Lackawanna County property owners
With property tax reassessment underway in Lackawanna County, a program will give some residents temporary property tax breaks if their taxes rise. Lackawanna County Commissioners passed requirements for the program which would give those who own and live in a single family home an opportunity to appeal and keep the taxes the same, at least temporarily. It would only apply if the reassessment increased their county only property taxes by at least 20percent among other stipulations. The reassessment tax bills will not appear until 2026.
