City Council swears in Jordan, Kridler; council votes no on YMCA funding
The Gonzales City Council held their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 14 at Gonzales City Hall — the date had been moved during a previous meeting. The council kicked off the meeting by certifying the elections for District 1 and District 2; Joseph Kridler of District 1 was unopposed, and Mariah Jordan defeated incumbent Sherri Koepp in District 2.

Gonzales County approves final plat for WT Airpark in Waelder
Gonzales County commissioners signed off Monday, May 13, on the final plat for the first phase of the county’s first airpark development — WT Airpark in Waelder. The court had previously approved the preliminary plat in February, County Emergency Management and Permitting Director Jimmy Harless said. Airpark manager and developer Brittany Oligney was present at Monday’s meeting as well.

YISD approves Head Start contract, awards presented at May meeting
In the agenda, the Yoakum Independent School District approved a contract through INK Education Services for the school’s Head Start Program at the May 13 meeting. “This is for our Head Start Program at the Primary Annex,” Superintendent Tom Kelley said. “INK Services is funding five teachers and two floater aides. The funds we will get from this contract is $286,000.”
