BR baseball shows grit in playoff run
The Bear River baseball team came up a little short of making the championship series in the 4A playoff tournament, but made plenty of noise as they battled back from an early loss. After sweeping Mountain Crest in the super regional round in Garland, the Bears took a tough loss...
Prep baseball: Riverhawks bow out of state tournament
It was a must-win situation for a pair of Region 11 teams Tuesday afternoon at Cate Field in the 4A state baseball tournament. Sadly, they were playing each other for the right to stay alive. In the fourth meeting between Bear River and Ridgeline, the Bears pulled away in the later innings for a 15-8 victory.
Prep softball: Riverhawks headed to 4A championship series
For the third straight year Ridgeline will be playing for the 4A state softball title. The top-seeded Riverhawks reached the championship series by winning the upper bracket during Bracket Play on Wednesday and Thursday at the 4A Softball State Championship being contested at Spanish Fork.
High school softball: Top seed Ridgeline, No. 2 Desert Hills stay unbeaten in 4A tourney
The top two seeds in the 4A state softball tournament stayed unbeaten Wednesday as each of them recorded two wins to move within one win of the state championship series to be held on Saturday. The top seeded Ridgeline Riverhawks beat No. 8 seed Hurricane 8-0 and No. 4 seed Cedar 12-0 in five innings of play, while No. 2 seed Desert Hills beat No. 7 Bear River 6-2 and No. 6 Payson 9-1 to stay unbeaten in the 4A bracket held at the Spanish Fork Complex. Ridgeline’s pitching was stellar in both of its games as it held Hurricane to just three hits and then was able to throw a combined no-hitter against Cedar. “You know it’s a big thing right now. Trying to save arms, trying to be as efficient as you can. And when our pitchers do that, it keeps the pressure on the other team and will keep us fresh for tomorrow.” Ridgeline head coach Michael Anderson said.

While new head Aggie men’s basketball coach Jerrod Calhoun has been on the job for more than a month, his staff has not been officially announced. That changed on Tuesday when Utah State made it public that Eric Haut had been hired as the associate head coach. The Aggie men’s basketball website also lists Eric Brown as an assistant coach, who was with previous head coach Danny Sprinkle’s staff this past season.
Recent additions at QB give Utah State back some depth, but not experience, lost to transfer portal
LOGAN — Just days into the spring transfer window, Utah State’s quarterback depth chart had taken a massive hit with the losses of Cooper Legas and McCae Hillstead. Those losses, combined with the retirement of Levi Williams, meant that 100 percent of the Aggies’ production at the position was lost to offseason attrition.
Prep boys soccer: Hawks, Wolves advance, will square off in 4A semis
MILLVILLE — There was no heartbreak at home for the Riverhawks in the quarterfinals of the playoff this time around, plus it was sweet revenge for the Region 11 champions, to boot. Diego Vazquez buried a shot in the 17th minute and Ridgeline sparkled defensively on its way to...
Prep boys soccer: Riverhawks roll into quarterfinals; Grizz, Stangs fall
MILLVILLE — Controlling possession of the ball from the start, Ridgeline had no trouble advancing in the 4A state boys soccer playoffs Tuesday evening. The second-seeded Riverhawks scored a pair of goals in each half and conceded a late one to 18th-seeded Mountain View in a 4-1 victory on a sunny and sometimes breezy day. A lighting delay caused the game to start 30 minutes late, but when the skies cleared it was all Ridgeline.
