Photos: Severe Weather Causes Damage and Flooding
Severe weather hit the mid-state area last night, leaving many without power and others to recover from the storm damage. Most local schools are closed today. Tornadoes have been confirmed in Robertson, Giles and Maury counties on Wednesday, May 8. The tornado in Maury County was fatal, leaving one person dead and major damage throughout the area.
Henegar tornado upgraded to EF-3, total now up to eight
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — UPDATE: On Friday, NWS officials upgraded the tornado that hit Henegar to EF-3 status, with maximum winds reaching 140 miles per hour and a recorded path of 1.13 miles. In addition, a second EF-1 tornado was confirmed the Brooks Crossroads community in Henegar, as well as an EF-1 tornado in Southwest Lincoln County near the communities of Blanche and Taft.

Special Olympics reset for Tuesday
Special Olympics Lower Cumberland Area 13, showcasing the talents and spirit of athletes from Coffee, Franklin, Bedford, Moore, and Lincoln Counties, will take place May 14 at Wilkins Stadium 1001 N. Jackson St. Tullahoma. Opening parade of athletes begins at 9 a.m. The date is a makeup date due to rain Thursday morning.

Jack Daniel's Distillery released Batch 2 of its 10-year whiskey in March 2023. Produced in Lynchburg, Tennessee, the whiskey has been aged for 10 years. Moving on to the palate, the whiskey has a medium-plus weight with a spicy/sweet profile. Those sweeter notes are on the darker side with caramel and rich vanilla, but there's also a tanginess that helps cut through the sweetness.
