Pedal it Forward opens Springdale shop at The Jones Center
Pedal it Forward is opening a third bike-refurbishing shop — this time in Washington County. Why it matters: The nonprofit makes used bikes roadworthy and donates them to people in need for recreation and transportation. Its two existing shops are in Bentonville and Rogers.🔧 How it works: Bikes are donated for a variety of reasons — from people cleaning out garages to truckloads from Walmart return centers. If a bike can be repaired, mechanically inclined volunteers fix it. If not, its parts are pilfered. Some are purchased at monthly rummage sales.Pedal it Forward partners with schools, churches, and homeless or women's shelters to distribute its fleet for free. The bottom line: The new shop at The Jones Center in Springdale will make it easier for volunteers to work on bikes and for refurbs to be distributed to its partner organizations in Washington County.A grand opening is scheduled for 6-7:30pm Monday, June 17.Those interested in the Pedal it Forward mission can tour the shop, sign up to volunteer or learn more about the donation process.
