Two-vehicle crash slows traffic near Salty the Seahorse, no injuries
MATTAPOISETT — A two-vehicle collision May 15 near Mattapoisett’s Salty the Seahorse landmark briefly slowed traffic in the town’s busiest intersection. Two pickup trucks crashed within the intersection of North Street and Route 6 Wednesday afternoon. Neither of the two people involved suffered injuries, according to Mattapoisett Fire Chief Andrew Murray.

“Earlier Thursday afternoon, Command Unit 1, Engine Co. 8, and Ladder Co. 4 responded to 262 Church Street to assist Eversource Gas with a carbon monoxide incident. On arrival, District Chief Shawn Sivil was informed by Eversource personnel that there was natural gas leaking into a two-family residence. NBFD and Eversource combustible gas meters confirmed the natural gas concentrations were quickly reaching the lower explosive threshold.
