The Glendive Fire Department responded to a call at the CenturyLink building on West Valentine Street on Tuesday, Feb. 20. The department responded at about 7 p.m. and though the event turned out to be a false alarm, firefighters stayed on scene for some time to assure there was no emergency.

Glendive city officials pull back on accusation of diesel dumping against BNSF
Just a few days after pointing a finger at BNSF over diesel contamination entering the city’s wastewater system, a Glendive city official is toning down those accusations due to lack of available evidence and the city is now bracing for possible fines leveled against the city. The latest update on the situation was provided by Glendive Public Works Director Frank Ceane on Tuesday, Feb. 20.

Dawson Men’s Basketball Coach Joe Peterson announced the signing of Anson Johnson from Texas City High School. Eastern Plains Economic Development helps Glendive Public Library in funding efforts
The Glendive Public Library has received a $2,500 grant from the Ash Grove Foundation to support the replacement of its air handler. Dawson handles Williston for third time
On sophomore night Feb. 15, the Dawson Community College Buccaneers won their final regular season home game 82-69 over the Williston State College Tetons. The win boosts Dawson’s overall record to 22-5 and their conference mark to 15-3. Dawson scored 58 points in the paint compared to the visitors 28 points. Roniel Oguekwe led the charge inside with a game high 21 points on 10-10 shooting. It was also Oguekwe’s career high.

BILLINGS--The Eastern A tournament kicked off Thursday in Billings, and the Fergus and Glendive boys picked up narrow wins in the first games of the day. The Golden Eagle mascot and student section were ready for a good game, and it didn't disappoint. Fergus led 38-36 at the end of the third quarter and led 47-43 by the time the clock had dwindled down to a minute.
